Development In Progress

New features for the WSJ app are being introduced via a phased rollout—a controlled method that allows us to immediately collect performance data and user feedback without fully disrupting the existing subscriber experience. This iterative strategy ensures all future enhancements are data-driven and precisely tailored to continuously optimize the user journey and long-term subscriber experience.

Project Goal

Transform the mobile Live Feed into a clear, organized experience that makes our most important analysis easy to find, ensuring busy users quickly get the insights that matter most.

Solution

Transform the Live Coverage experiences into an Intelligent Narrative Dashboard, leveraging visual hierarchy to guarantee our flagship analysis is instantly discovered and consumed, positioning WSJ as the essential source for high-value, real-time intelligence.

CHALLENGE

Video Experience

How might we improve the video player to address its usability challenges and create a smoother, more engaging viewing experience in the mobile app?

What's wrong?

The native media player covers most content also requires multiple taps for full-screen and play/pause, has hard-to-reach icons, and offers limited interactions for the inline video experience.

The current video experience needs major functional and visual enhancements to meet user expectations.

Market Page

CHALLENGE

Market Data

How might we better connect our market data with relevant news context to provide deeper insights and increase user engagement on the market page?

What's wrong?

The market page currently displays only basic stock information, lacks the interactions needed to create an engaging user experience, and fails to showcase the full value of our rich market data.

The Market page needs significant functional and visual remediation.

By adopting a focused design system and modern aesthetic, the final visual design is both engaging and effective. This approach ensures a consistent and reliable BACMA experience through a visually cohesive and user-friendly interface.
